Layne Kyung (Scherer) has been involved in ultimate since 2012, when she played for two years as a graduate student. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she has been involved as a coach with a number of teams including Catholic University of America, George Washington University, Suffrage, Wave, Rally, and as of 2025, an assistant coach with D.C. Shadow. Kyung also serves on the PUL Board of Directors as an at-large member with the equity, mission, and vision committee. Outside of ultimate, Kyung is a program director with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
